The Holy Scriptures

The first and primary of our doctrinal standards is, of course, the Word of God. The Scripture is the highest and final authority in all areas of Christianity. We believe that the Old and New Testaments of the Bible are nothing less than God's revelation of Himself and his work to mankind. As such, we believe that it is infallible, inerrant, and authoritative.

Our other doctrinal standards are only useful to us because they faithfully reflect and summarize the teachings of the Bible. They are never to be held above or equal to the Scriptures. The Bible alone is the inspired Word of God.

For a more detailed, formalized statement regarding our beliefs concerning the Word of God, refer to the Articles 3 - 7 of the Belgic Confession, and Chapter I of the Westminster Confession of Faith. The Westminster Confession of Faith, though not one of our official secondary doctrinal standards is an excellent Reformed document that is great use to all Christians.
